Ariel's high school graduation went off with all the expected glamor. There were around 480 graduates requiring a 5 hour ceremony to get through all the formalities. Ariel achievements were also celebrated at home with all the boys being treated to their favourite Filipino style spaghetti, soda and a sweet desert (this time a Pavlova that Kerry made).
Though we got a sleep in on Wednesday, the "resting" part was cut short when we spent the day gathering, cutting, tying and just creating costumes and weapons for the next movie titles "Lost".
Also somewhere in amongst all that i managed to find time to duck out and book our tickets for our week away to Loreto (In the Dinagat Islands). Loreto is Brother Dan's home island. In the past couple of years the boys have been a part of helping to run some circus workshops there. This year however they will head head there simply to have a holiday. The Dinagat islands are beautiful remote Islands and is the closest thing i have seen so far to the stereotypical image of "tropical paradise". With its white sandy beaches and shimmering blue waters teaming with coral life we are hoping the boys will be able to just enjoy nature and appreciate the beauty of the world we live in. But more on this next week.
Thursday brought with it the first day of filming.
Here is a sneak peak on set... no points for guessing the theme/story that might have influenced this next movie.
I've also been spending some of my time in the office trying to give the staff here a hand and trying to get more use out of my so called professional training : ) (Megan of Lydia if you are reading this you would be proud of how much paperwork i managed to get done while on holiday).
The next couple days is the peak of "holy week" here in the Philippines. All the shops are closed and we are going to have to stop being lazy and cook up our own meals rather than rely on the local restaurant to feed us. We are hoping to spend the next few days however catching up with some of the kids that have left Cornerstone. It has been really important to us to maintain a relationship with the boys even after they leave Cornerstone, with the hope that we can show them that they are valued for who they are and not the organisation that they were part of.
I think i better end my musings here and head to bed as I'm sure tomorrow too plans to arrive with a bucket load of adventures and demand plenty of energy.
